I’m Songul and I’m a Newborn/Family Photographer in Basingstoke, Hampshire.
My photography journey started with my husband -Niall- I fell in love with my husband and photography more or less at the same time. Niall introduced me to his hobby when we met in 2010 and my first DSLR camera was a Christmas gift from him. It changed my life! It was the BEST GIFT I’ve EVER received, and it started my journey through the lens to a beautiful new life.
When we first met, I was living in Torbali, a town in Izmir province in Turkey. His gift inspired me to study photography there, and I also worked in one of the biggest photographic studios in the town before I moved to England. I continued my studies when I arrived, and started my photography business in 2015 after my daughter was born. I was working around her and did only a few hours a week when she was a toddler and I am proud to say that my business kept growing with her.
As a mother myself, I know that when you look back at these photos one day they will help you remember how tiny your child’s toes were, how sweetly they curled up in your arms, how sleepy and peaceful they were and, most importantly, how much you love them. It makes me so happy that you will have something my parents never had; there are no pictures of me as a child to show my own daughter.
Although everyone has access to a camera on their phone these days, nothing beats having professional photographs taken of you and your family. My mission is to provide everyone with stunning photographs of themselves, their babies, toddlers and families. You’ll see yourselves in a different way as I use all my experience to capture the joy and anticipation of pregnancy, the innocence of your newborn, the love between you and your partner and the unique chemistry of your family.
